Lesson LearnedPosted by Jacqui (Okemos, United States) on 14 April 2007 in Sport & Recreation. I know it's not the best picture - but I'm really posting this more for the story... About two months ago I purchased this baseball at an auction (to raise money for a specified purpose) for a semi-hefty amount of moo-la. What is it? Marketed as a baseball autographed by the 1984 Detroit Tigers World Series winning team...famous Tigers like Alan Trammel, Kirk Gibson, Lou Whitaker, etc. I am definitely a person who runs with my emotions sometimes, thus I ended getting so caught up in the auction process, I completely forgot to check if it had any "papers." Ooops. Turns out it did! ...a piece of printer paper that included the roster of the team from that year (but not everyone who signed the baseball) and a note saying "This baseball was purchased in 1985 by the General Motor's Men's Club and has not left the case since, yadda yadda yadda." Obviously you should know where this is going by now...ended up having it checked out - most definitely an imposter! Lucky for me, when I told the woman running the auction she was mortified and I was able to get my money back. But I have most definitely learned my lesson! :)
